Bigsurf recommends joining the IWA  

The Irish Windsurfing Association (IWA) is Ireland’s national association for all Windsurfers. It is run by windsurfers, for windsurfers.

The IWA is a focal point for windsurfing in Ireland. It coordinates events, social outings, advertises local spots to windsurf at, shares information, and has the best interests of you, the windsurfer in mind.

Crucially the IWA provides you with insurance cover, but only when you are joined as a member. The membership fee is small, only €45 at the time of publication of this post. If something goes wrong on the water, the IWA is your first point of contact for support.
